Swing for Mental Health
This October, Little Para Golf Course, is celebrating National Mental Health Month. National Mental Health Month runs from 1st – 31st October throughout Australia, during which the World Mental Health Day also occurs on 10th October 2022. Associated with and supported by leading organisations including the World Health Organisation
(WHO), Mental Health Australia, Mental Health Foundation Australia and the Australian Government, these events aim to educate and raise awareness for mental health and emotional wellbeing, and advocate against the social stigma surrounding mental health issues.
Did you know? Over 2 in 5 Australians aged 16–85 years are estimated to have experienced a mental disorder at some time in their life. Mental health affects all Australians, whether directly or indirectly. Taking care of our mental health is becoming increasingly important, particularly as we experience the aftereffects of the COVID-19 pandemic and move forward towards achieving positivity and fulfilment.
As a key pillar of overall health and wellbeing, mental health is a complex subject that sometimes evolves under the radar, therefore it is vital that we share support and consideration for such among our communities. Little Para Golf Course is getting involved in National Mental Health Month by making a Swing for Mental Health, encouraging all to join us on the green and have a go at golf to experience the many positive benefits golf has on both physical and mental health and wellbeing.
In line with the official theme of National Mental Health Month, ‘‘Building Resilience: Communities and Connections’, we hope that people of all walks of life can feel welcome in our venue and enjoy this great sport together as a community.
